Schools
  • Training is up and running in the Convent Primary School for the last term.
  • Newport B.N.S. had hoped to commence the junior league last Thursday but weather conditions forced a cancellation.
  • Mr. Skehane and Mr. McCormack  hope to commence both the junior and senior leagues this coming week.
  • The annual school tournament is due to take place on June 21st.
  • Joe Floyd is keeping the flag flying in Birdhill N.S. and no doubt Birdhill are preparing to defend the title they won last year.

Support our girls
The U14 camogie team who are representing Tipp in this year's Féile na nGael in Dublin in July are looking for all G.A.A. supporters to come to Bingo in Newport Community Centre on May 22nd.  They need 100 extra people to attend that night in order to make a substantial sum which will go towards their trip.  School Coaches might put this date in their diary.

Intermediate Hurling
Congratulations to the Intermediate hurlers who got their championship campaign off to a successful start with victory against Ballinahinch last Saturday. Well done to all involved.

Under 16 Final
Commiserations to our Under 16 Footballers, who having led for most of the game, succumbed to Nenagh Éire Óg by two points in the North final on Monday night.
