Under 21 Hurling:  Newport played Borrisoleigh in the North U21 hurling 'B' semi final in windy Dolla on Saturday 3rd November. Newport started brightly and playing against a strong wind Corrie Mooney opened the scoring with a point. Borrisoleigh responded with a pointed free before a strong run by Aaron O’ Neill resulted in Mikey Gorman finishing the ball to the net. Mikey added a second goal before Borris replied with a pointed free. Colin and Kealan Floyd added points before Borris replied with a couple of points to leave the score 2.3 to 6 points as half time approached. Jack Delahunty went on a mazy run and soloed through the centre before passing to Thomas Floyd who duly dispatched the sliothar to the corner of the net to leave the score 3.3 to 6 points at half time. Borris playing against the wind in the second half started very strong and pointed a free before Ray McCormack added a goal to reduce the lead to 2 points. Dara Carroll added a free for Newport to push it out to 3. Thomas Floyd, Colin and Dara added points to push out the lead to 6 points but Borris replied with a goal to reduce it to a 3 point game. Colin added a point before Borris replied with a goal and a point to send the game in to Extra Time at 3.10 each. In extra time, Borrisoleigh had an early point, but Newport took the lead through Dara Carroll and Kealan Floyd, before Borris replied when Gerry Kelly pointed a line ball. Half time 3.12 each. Newport now had the wind and points by Colin Floyd, Jack Delahunty, Keelan Floyd and Aaron O’Neill closed out the game as Newport advanced to the final on a 3.16 to 3.12 score line.

Healthy Club: 'Men on the Move' walking group continues every Monday night in Longhouse field from 7pm to 8pm until the end of November. Yoga classes commence on Wednesday 21st of November for 4 weeks in the Clubhouse from 6-7pm. Please contact Martin Guilfoyle to book your place, as it will be limited to 12 participants. 'Recipe for Success' took place in Newport College on 24th of October.  Thanks to Newport College for all their help.

Mass for Deceased Members of Newport GAA:  A mass for the deceased members of Newport GAA will take place on Saturday 24th of November at 6.30pm in Newport.

Tulach Sheasta A.G.M.: The Club A.G.M. will take place on Wednesday 5th of December 2018 at 8pm in the Clubrooms.

 

Scór na nÓg:  The North final of Scór na nÓg will take place in Borrisoleigh on Friday the 16th of November, commencing at 7.30pm. Details of entries should be returned to Anthony Floyd by Friday the 9th of November. As it’s the 50th Anniversary of Scór, we encourage as many entries as possible.
