Intermediate Hurling:
The Intermediates had a much-needed 14 point win vs Golden Kilfeakle last Wednesday evening. Final score: 2-21 to 1-10. They now progress to the Preliminary Quarter Final of the county championship. Their North Championship is due to get underway the weekend after the All Ireland Hurling final where they will play Shannon Rovers in the semi final.

Under 8:
Newport U8's played as the rain poured down in Killaloe on Thursday evening last. It didn't stop them taking their scores and they were convincing winners in both matches. Thanks to Smith O 'Brien's for hosting. They also had a blitz in Moneygall on Saturday last where they played Roscrea, Templemore and  Moneygall. Well done to all the players and thanks to Hugh McLoughlin for organising the blitzes.

Under 10:
On Thursday night last Newport Juvenile Club hosted a North Tipperary U10 hurling blitz. 12 teams from 7 clubs took part in a very enjoyable evening's hurling. Together with 2 Newport teams, Ballina, Templederrry, Kilruane McDonaghs, Borrisoleigh, Ballinahinch and  Slivermines all participated. Our teams played Ballina, Kilruane McDonagh's and the Silivermines in a number of entertaining games which were competitive and close encounters. An enjoyable evening was had by all.  A big thanks to Paudie Malone for organising the blitz.


Under 16:
The U16's played Burgess on Monday night last and they suffered a heavy defeat.

All Ireland Under 16 Tournament:
Lacken Park was a hive of activity on Saturday last as we hosted three games in the U16 B All Ireland Hurling Tournament. We welcomed teams from Wexford, Dublin and Waterford. Wexford played Waterford in the first game at 10.30am. Wexford won a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-12. 2nd game was Dublin V Wexford in the very close game with Dublin coming out on top with a 1 point win. Final score Dublin 2-10 to 2-09. The 3rd match was Dublin V Waterford at 1.30pm. Dublin were convincing winners and they progessed to play Cork in the Semi Final of the John Doyle Cup which was played in Burgess. Cork beat Dublin on a scoreline of 0-14 to 1-7.
It was then onto Nenagh for the Cork team to play Tipperary in the Final. Tipperary won the John Doyle Cup seeing off Cork on a scoreline of 3-14 to 1-7. Well done Tipperary .
A special word of thanks to all of the Club Members that helped out on Saturday last in Lacken Park.

Duck Race:
The Annual Duck Race will take place on Friday September 2nd at 7.00pm at the Bridge in Newport. Ducks can be purchased at training in Lacken Park from the Juvenile Committee and on the evening of the event. .  First Prize is a much-sought-after two  All Ireland Hurling Final Tickets and Cash Prizes for Second and Third Place. Please come along and support this fundraiser.

All Ireland Minor Final:
Best wishes to our two club men Cian Flanagan and Darragh Carroll who will be lining out in Croke Park on Sunday next in the All Ireland Minor Hurling Final. It makes for an interesting All Ireland Final as Cian is playing with the Tipp Minors and Darragh is playing with the Limerick squad. Best of Luck to both Cian and Darragh but let's hope it's Tipperary who have the better luck!
