Intermediate Hurling: Our Intermediate Hurlers drew with Drom-Inch on Sunday evening last in Tempederry in Round 1 of the County Intermediate Championship. A hard fought second half saw them recover from 7 points down to go 3 points up before a goal in the last play from Drom-Inch left the game level at 2-12 to 1-15. They now play Kilsheelan-Kilcash in Round 2.
Under 14: Newport U14 Footballers had a great win last Friday evening. In a hard fought game against Portroe they finished the first half on level scores. The second half saw pressure on the Newport Goal but they withstood this and pressed up the field to score their 3rd goal. They remained ahead for the duration of the game and came out 5 points on top. Well done to all the players for their great effort.
Under 12: Congratulations to the U12C Footballers and their Mentors who had a 2 point win over Shannon Rovers on Thursday last. They will now play Ballinahinch in the North Final on April 30th.
Under 10 : On Saturday 16th April, Newport U10's played a Community Games challenge game against Monaleen GAA Club. In a very competitive game, Monaleen were stronger on the night and won the game with scores to spare. Newport will be playing Inane Rovers of Roscrea in two weeks time in the Community Games North Semi Final. On Monday evening 18th April Newport the U10's played a hurling match against our neighbours in Murroe. Both clubs had two teams who played two games each. A great evening's hurling took place with some fantastic performances on both sides. Newport showed great spirit and determination which bodes well for the year ahead.
Tipp Minor Hurling: Hard luck to Cian Flanagan who played the whole second half for the Tipperary minor hurling panel that lost to Waterford last Saturday and put in a solid performance. They now play Clare on Wednesday 4th May.
Poker Classic: The club will hold its 2nd Poker Classic (5 Card Poker) on Sunday May 1st 2016 at 6pm in O’Sullivans Bar, Newport. This event was a great success last year and all are welcome. Tickets can be purchased from any committee member at €20.
