Intermediate Hurling: Our Intermediate Hurlers will finally get their championship back underway this Wednesday evening when they play Golden at 7pm in Cappawhite in a must-win game. We wish them the best of luck.

Junior Hurlers: Congratulations to the Junior Hurling team who won the North League with a big 10 point win over Portroe last Saturday evening.

Under 8: The U8's played Holycross, Ballingarry and Knockavilla in a County Blitz on Saturday last in Thurles. The weather conditions were not ideal but that didn't dampen their enthusiasm. Well done on winning all 3 matches.  They have a blitz on Saturday next in Moneygall where they will play Roscrea, Templemore and Moneygall.

Minors: What a disappointing year it has turned out to be for our Minor Hurling team! They were beaten by Borrisoleigh in a high scoring game on a 3-14 to 2-18 scoreline in miserable conditions in Templederry last Wednesday night. This followed defeats to Kiladangan and Moneygall/Clonakenny and brought our interest in this years championship to a premature end. Hard luck to the team and the Management Team of Anthony Floyd, Trevor Delahunty, Leo O'Connor and Cyril O'Neill.

Under 16: Newport will be hosting three games in the U16 All Ireland Hurling Tournament on Saturday next August 27th in Lacken Park. The following games will be played Wexford v Waterford at 10.30am , Wexford V Dublin at 12.00pm and Dublin V Waterford at 1.30pm.

Duck Race: The Annual Duck Race will take place on Friday September 2nd at 7.00pm at the Bridge in Newport. Ducks can be purchased at training in Lacken Park from the Juvenile Committee and on the evening of the event.   First Prize is a much-sought-after two All Ireland Hurling Final Tickets and Cash Prizes for Second and Third Place. Please come along and support this fundraiser.

Cúl Camp: Cúl Camp took place last week in Lacken Park with 232 kids participating . The kids were delighted to meet Brian Fox and Michael Breen who dropped into the Camp during the week.  Newport again this year had the biggest Cúl Camp in Tipperary.  A big thank you to all the coaches and parents that helped out during the  week.
