Féile na nGael: Newport opened their Féile tournament against Cootehill Celtic of Cavan in Lacken Park on Friday evening. Despite going down a few points early in the game Newport began to take control and went in on level scores at half time. With the nerves of the occasion out of the way, Newport began to hurl with more freedom and eventually went on to win comfortably in the end with Jamie Moloney in excellent form scoring 1-1. Newport's second game of the evening came against a strong Upperchurch-Drombane side. Despite a spirited Newport performance, Upperchurch-Drombane had the upper hand for the majority of the game and ran out deserving winners in the end.
Newport's final group game was played at home on Saturday morning against Burren Rangers of Carlow. Strong performances by Rory O'Connor and Oran Connors in defence ensured Newport would be hard to break down and this was the platform for a strong display by Newport with Jack Ryan in fine scoring form.
Two wins and a defeat in the group stages meant Newport travelled to Moneygall for the Quarter Final. Newport never reached the heights of earlier in the day and were down 3 points to 1 at half time. Despite a stunning goal from Niall Duffy early in the 2nd half, Moneygall went on to finish strong. The final score was Newport 2-2 Moneygall 2-10. The club would like to thank everybody who came to Lacken Park to support the team. The club would also like to thank all the parents who hosted the players and mentors from Burren Rangers, our sponsors and to everybody who volunteered to help as linesmen , umpires, parking attendants , catering or who donated food. It was with the help of everybody concerned that made it a wonderful weekend. We would also like to thank Newport / Ballinahinch Camogie club for their help over the weekend and congratulate them on their excellent performance in the competition where they lost out in the semi final of the Shield after extra time.

Under 12 Hurling: The U12B Team will play Templederry Kenyons  and the U12D team will play Nenagh in the next round on Friday June 24th.

Tipp Intermediates: Hard luck to Pa Ryan who came on as a second half substitution for the Tipperary Intermediate Hurlers who lost out to Limerick last Sunday prior to the senior game.
